Its Christmas at the Kennedy Center!

WOW!  Our thanks go out to our Creative Director, Terry Stackley for arranging for us to perform alongside 200+ other choral singers and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra this past Christmas Season.  On Dec 23, 2016 we were priviledged to perform Handel's Messiah in front of over 2000 members of the audience who eagerly sang along with us.  It rocked not just the house, but our souls as well.  The concert also included wonderful performances from soloists not directly associated with the Celebration Singers, Elizabeth Kluegel-Niblock (Soprano), Annette S. Singletary (Mezzo-soprano), Matthew Loyal Smith (Tenor) and Bob McDonald (Baritone).  These singers provided the power and beauty intended by the composer.

Be sure to check out the website of the amazing woman who conducted this extravaganza, Nancia D'Aimonte.  With energy, humor, and skill she guided this massive collection of musicians and singers through this beautiful arrangement.  We were also privileged to experience the talents of our Guest Conductor, Barry S Hemphill, the Artistic Director of the Metropolitan Chorus from 1997 to 2015, as he directed the most famous movement from that composition, the "Hallelujah Chorus."

It was an wonderful night, one that I'm sure few of us in the Celebration Singers will ever forget the experience.

Season Seven ~ Lucky Us!

Wow, the music just keeps on getting better.  At least we think so, and apparently, so do you.  This past year we nearly maxed out the scores you gave us on the comment cards we collect after each concert.  The average for the year was 4.85 out of 5.  Thanks for being so generous. We appreciate your comments and ratings and use them to mold an even better experience for you next year.

Our charity donations this year are greater than ever and the food donations we brought to ACTS have almost doubled.  Nice work everyone, keep it up!

If you read the front page carefully you may have noticed that we will be performing Handel's Messiah at the Kennedy Center this year.  No kidding!  We have some work to do to prepare, but Terry will see to that and we will need to work extra hard to be sure we are ready.  What an honor and an amazing experience that will be. We are so excited.

Next year we will also be performing at a new venue for us.  The Old Bridge United Methodist Church in Lake Ridge.  It's going to be a great year.

And so closes our fifth season.

It has been a busy year.  Besides our weekly rehearsals, we had the opportunity to present six concerts this season including the "Messiah,"  "Love Songs," and the ever popular "Singer's Choice" concert.   We were again invited to perform at the Prince William Arts Council's "Arts Alive" event and delighted the several folks who attended.

Thanks for attending our concerts, it is indeed a joy and an honor to perform for you.  Your appreciation makes all the preparation for and work at rehearsals worthwhile.  Look for our flyers and advertisements and pass the word along to your friends.  Don't forget to visit our website from time to time for the latest events, locations, and dates.  See you in the Fall!

Our Fifth Season!

After a relaxing Summer break and a rigorous Fall rehearsal season, we have completed our Christmas Season concerts.  In addition to several performances of traditional Christmas music, we performed the "Messiah" Sing-Along with the Old Bridge Chamber Music Orchestra and the Old Dominion Choraleers.

In March we serenaded the residents of Westminster at Lake Ridge with a beautiful collection of love songs that reached back in time to the days of our youth.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the music and the memories the songs recalled.

We have several special events planned that we hope you will also enjoy.  We will be performing at the Prince William County Arts Council's "Arts Alive" Festival.  Those of you who are attending that event may experience a surprise while roaming the outdoor performance areas.  You heard it first here, but I'll keep the details sparce so as to not spoil the surprise.  Suffice it to say, it will be a delight for all - including you, so plan on attending!

That's all for now.  Check the column on the right for times and locations.

Check back often, we'll have more news to share...
